| Jedi Knight II |
 |
Oh, my goodness!
I have always been a fan of the Star Wars type games. When this one hit the Mac, I was so floored I about had to buy a geriatric diaper. I loved Dark Forces a lot when I played it, even though it was sprite based, and pretty flimsy on the look up/down, I still adored the game play, the Star Wars theme, and the Force. It was everything in a nutshell, in a galaxy far far away.
Yeah, lame annotation. Excuse me.
Ok, back on track, Jedi Knight II was a whole new game. No, it wasn't your run of the mill "sequel" type game. It was a whole serious upgrade. I think the only sequel part, was you played the same character Kyle. That was about it.
The full 3d, the great engine used (got to love Q3 engine for us low end mac people!), and the truly wonderful integration of 3rd person light saber battles, are only a few things of the massive iceberg. The light saber was my weapon of choice through the whole game, I actually played it through at 95% light saber. The other 5% was when I pulled out the big guns to lay down some heavy artillery to clear a room or corridor of troopers. Or when I just had too much ammo stock piled up I had to get rid of it because when I walked over new ammo I wasn't picking it up!
You have to understand, I'm a "got to take it all" kinda player. I am actually the kind of fool who will return to dungeons just to drag that awful cloth armor back to the store for 2 gold shillings!
Aside the point, the Force powers. OH my... how fun are these? I ended up sort of heading towards the dark side a bit, cause I was using my powers to do a lot of killing. Oh well! Sure is fun to strangle a guy in front of you while he is taking all the blaster shots! Wha ha.
Well, To cut this one short, its a great game. Nothing wrong with it, and no real cons I can think of. Overall, its a game I have replayed 4 times so far, and am eager to dive through it again next month.
