Aspyr Wants to Know - Games on DVD? 7:02 AM | Jean-Luc Dinsdale | Comment on this story
Glenda Adams, Aspyr Media's director of PC and Mac Development, has taken to the IMG forums in an attempt to garner customer feedback over an issue regarding the distribution of her company's future titles. Aspyr is currently looking at the possibility of shipping titles requiring large amounts of data on DVD media rather than on multiple CD-ROMs. From her post: What are your opinions on Mac games shipping on DVD? Aspyr has released one game so far (Medal of Honor Deluxe) on DVD, and I haven't seen any positive or negative response online. We're looking at moving more games to DVD in the future, as Apple has shipped almost all their machines with either combo drives or Superdrives for a couple years now, so the installed base is pretty large. On big games like Lord of the Rings: Return of the King that might take 3-4 CD's, it not only makes installation simpler (no more swapping CD's), but gives us plenty of room to try to add some cool extras, like demos, mods, etc. IMG readers are encouraged to head over to the IMG forum and volunteer their opinions. Click on the link below to put in your two cents' worth and potentially help shape the next step in Mac game publishing.
