Apple Adds 20'' iMac, Dual 1.8GHz G5 11:10 AM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story
Today Apple added two impressive new machines to their already popular lineups of professional and consumer-level computers; the 20" iMac and the Dual 1.8GHz G5. Mac gamers looking to upgrade their machines just received two compelling new reasons to do so. Like it's slightly smaller sibling, the 17" iMac, the new 20" iMac features a 1.25GHz G4 processor, a 64MB NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 chipset, and a 4x SuperDrive. The screen is an all-new high for iMac resolutions at a whopping 1680x1050 pixels, and the machine starts at $2,199 (or $1,999 for educational purchasers). Seemingly due to the extreme popularity of the Dual 2.0GHz G5 Power Mac, Apple has decided to drop the price on their 1.6GHz and give the middle-ground 1.8GHz unit an extra G5 processor. The Dual 1.8GHz G5 still features a 900MHz frontside bus and comes with 512MB of 400MHz PC3200 RAM. The Dual 1.8GHz G5 starts at $2,499 and the 1.6GHz G5 now runs for $1,799. See Apple's site for more technical information on both these new machines. Also be sure to read through IMG's recent review of the Dual 2.0GHz G5 Power Mac.
