Omni Group on Lack of Game Ports 3:34 PM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story
It's been a while since we've heard much from our friends at The Omni Group, and so we decided to contact them regarding their apparent lack of current game ports. In case you're curious, Omni was one of the first companies to port games exclusively to Mac OS X, starting with titles like Quake III: Arena, Oni, Heavy Metal: FAKK2, and Giants: Citizen Kabuto. They have also been responsible for popular ports of games like Fallout, Freedom Force, AvP 2, and more. Timothy Wood was nice enough to let us know they're in the middle of some large changes to their productivity applications like OmniWeb and OmniGraffle, which means they haven't been able to take on any ports of games. Here's what he had to say: Currently we are very focused on an aggressive schedule to update several of our productivity applications, and we are not working on any game ports. While we are not pursuing game port opportunities at this time, we certainly may in the future if our priorities and resources allow us to do so. Stay tuned to IMG for any new information on The Omni Group if they delve again into the game porting business.
