DeusExZone: Harvey Smith Q&A
Harvey Smith: I'm not sure we did much that I'd call revolutionary. We wanted to make an RPG with a deep story. We wanted to create an atmospheric, immersive environment with a high degree of interactivity. We wanted to create a consistent environment that allowed for emergence as the result of the player's input. I think we succeeded at most of those things. But I can't think of anything we included that no other game had featured, which is how I'd define revolutionary. A better word for Deus Ex is "ambition."
