MacGamer Abducted 8:15 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
MacGamer has posted a short but sweet preview of Contraband Entertainment's upcoming horror sci-fi game, Abducted, and offers two new screenshots from the game. Although Contraband is mainly known for ports such as Aliens vs Predator and Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2, the company has also begun working on original titles. Here's a clip from MacGamer's preview: Though a work of art always suffers somewhat in comparison, one can't help recall images of id Software's Doom 3, which were shown at last year's Macworld Tokyo event. Abducted not only has a similar tone of sci-fi ruin and claustrophobia (though the game will be played in third person), but it also approaches the visual excellence that made the gaming world's collective jaw drop. Abducted's engine is completely new and utilizes all the key features of a bleeding edge 3D game in 2002: Real time lighting that flickers, fades and moves and shadows that swing and undulate. Are comparisons between the visuals of Abducted and Doom 3 unfounded? Only time will tell, but the development team seems pretty confident about it. For more on Abducted, be sure to check to check out the rest of the preview at MacGamer.
