World of Warcraft to Expand in 2006 7:55 AM | Anthony Wang | Comment on this story
GamerGod has posted an interview with Shawn Carnes of the World of Warcraft development team. This interview focuses on the growing popularity of the game and the changes already implemented and future innovations such as a possible expansion next year. As reported by IMG yesterday, it is now evident that World of Warcraft is the most explosive and largest MMORPG ever and is growing everyday. Furthermore, the article also mentions Blizzard's intentions with RMT (Real Money Trading) and advertisments in the game. Below are selected excerpts from the interview. Grimwell: With WoW as a clear success, an expansion is a no-brainer to follow up on the success. What are the plans for this? Shawn: An expansion is planned, not in 2005, possibly in late 2006 barring unforeseen chaos. Work is already going on for the expansion, and it's going good. What to look for? Blizzard is good at polishing what we do well. The WoW expansion will be like other game expansions in that there will be new characters, items, spells, etc. but it will have the Blizzard twist...
