The Inspiration For Tiny Troopers 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Kukouri Entertainment has announced the launch of a new development blog for its upcoming action game Tiny Troopers. Coming to Mac and Windows PCs in the third quarter of 2012, the game puts players in command of a team of small soldiers in 30 missions with objectives that range from destroying enemy formations to rescuing hostages and assassinating enemy generals. Think about games that were released on C64 or Amiga, in the 80’s and early 90’s. I spent thousands of hours playing everything from Commando to Phantasie and Last Ninja to Cannon Fodder. From all those games, it was Cannon Fodder that ended up being the inspiration to us all at Kukouri. In Tiny Troopers we added a lot of ideas and mechanics we think are cool. The most prominent one is the mechanic of Command Points. You get CP’s for every enemy you kill, bunker you destroy and so on. With CP’s you can buy items both in the mission briefing and during a mission. For example, you can purchase armour so that your troopers can withstand a few more bullet hits. Or you can call in an airdrop of grenades and other supplies while on the mission. You can also strengthen your squad with specialists. Specialists have a lot of impact, as your normal squad is only 1-3 troopers strong. Buying a Specialist before a mission adds one more trooper to your squad, there are five of them and each with their own specialty. Not to mention that they are powerful soldiers in their own right. Head over to the site below to read more.
