IMG Reviews SQUIDS 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 2 comments
Inside Mac Games has posted a review of The Game Bakers' SQUIDS. The game features a mixture of action strategy and role playing game mechanics, giving players the task of building a team of heroes and engaging in turn-based battles against corrupted sea creatures. Here's an excerpt: What goes through your mind when you hear "Turn-Based Action RPG?" It's probably not squids firing at each other with ink pellets or ramming crabs off a giant turtle. Nevertheless, that's what you're dealing with in SQUIDS, from The Game Bakers. The premise is pretty straightforward. All you have to do is kill all the ooze-covered denizens blocking you from your grand quest to save more women. This is done by ramming them off edges, blasting them with special powers, or by knocking them into the underwater spike trap, the sea urchin. Check out the page below to read the full review.

Wasteland 2 Mac Confirmed, Kicking It Forward Site Opens 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
inXile Entertainment has announced that Wasteland 2 will be coming to Mac. A sequel to the classic post-apocalyptic RPG of the 80's, the game will be a top down, turn-based, tactical RPG that the developers promise will "stay true to its roots." Having hit the 1.5 million target for its Kickstarter campaign, inXile confirmed it would be developing Mac and Linux versions of the upcoming game as well. $1.5 million is achieved! Thank you!! We will now make some Mac and Linux owners happy. Stay tuned for what happens at 2 mil... inXile's Brian Fargo, inspired by the success of the Wasteland 2 Kickstarter campaign, has also created a Kicking it Forward website. The concept behind the site is to encourage successful Kickstarter developers to reinvest 5% of profits on finished games back into another Kickstarter project of their choice, thereby encouraging more development free of publisher interference.Any developer that puts the "Kicking it Forward" badge on their Kickstarter project page is agreeing that they will put 5% of their finished product profits back into other Kickstarter projects. To be abundantly clear, this is only money that the developer earns as profit AFTER the project ships and AFTER they have paid their expenses. This is NOT a suggestion to invest money they received from people who invested into their project via Kickstarter. Once a project in this program has become profitable, the developer is going to spend this 5% profit, which is their own money, on whatever Kickstarter projects they want to support. They can determine unilaterally who they want to give it to and when. Neither myself nor a committee is going to tell successful developers what projects to invest in. Ultimately, this is an honor system at the end of the day. No one is going to audit their books to make sure they complied. In many ways Kickstarter is an honor system too, so this is no different. Of course some unscrupulous developer may not follow through with their promise but I believe the development community sticks together. Learn more at the links below.
