IMG Reviews Avernum: Escape From The Pit 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Spiderweb Software's Avernum: Escape From the Pit. The game is a "ground-up rewrite of Avernum" which includes a new engine and new graphics. As in the original, Avernum: Escape From the Pit follows the adventures of individuals exiled to a mysterous underground realm.strategy title. Here's an excerpt: You'll likely find much the same success, if you tend to follow the standard party of two warriors, a priest, and a wizard. With the spearman tanking and the swordsman dual-wielding, you can almost leave things to them and hang your magicians back to buff and heal. On the rare occasions you face a monster that is resistant to physical damage, a hasted wizard and priest can do tremendous damage while your warriors block. For more challenge, the hardest party appears to be a non-magic party. With the limited options available for buffing and healing, that party will tend to become decimated by anything significantly magical. The first time your main dual-wielder is charmed, for example, you will forever curse your lack of a priest. Read the full review at the link below.

IMG Reviews Back To The Future: The Game 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Telltale Games' Back To The Future: The Game. Based on the movies, the episodic adventure series follows the exploits of Marty McFly and his time travelling friends. Here's an excerpt: The spoken comments in this game are the best part. Here is where you learn the story, interact with the players, and get the most entertainment from the game. BTTF is an animated adventure, with real people doing the voices of the characters. Adding to the fun, some of the original cast of the movies do the voices for their characters. Most note worthy is the fact that Christopher Lloyd does the voice for the various forms of the mature Doc Brown and they even got Michael J. Fox to participate in the final episode, as a couple of the characters. Using original cast for voices bridges nicely from the movie to the game. However, the rest of the voice characters also do a great job. AJ LoCascio does a smashing job of Marty McFly, and sounds remarkably like a younger Michael J. In a recent blog post Basilisk Games revealed that a new update for the company's old school RPG, Eschalon: Book II, is in development. The update will ensure stability of the game on newer Macintosh models. We are going to do a fresh compile of the game on Mac very soon. It appears that recent updates to MacOS/Xcode have increased the number of bug reports we've been seeing.Note that this will just be a recompile of the code to make the game more stable on newer Macs; this will not be a version upgrade with fixes to the game itself.
