The Sims Medieval Reviewed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Mac|Life recently posted a new review of The Sims Medieval. The latest incarnation of the Sims franchise allows players to create heroes, venture on quests, build and control a kingdom, and play every Hero Sim character in the land. Mac|Life gave the game a score of 4.5 out of 5.

From the review:

The Sims Medieval is a standalone game set in the Middle Ages, allowing players to get their micromanagement ya-yas out by steering the lives of a monarch and his or her subjects through the trials and tribulations of medieval life. After designing a King or Queen from the ground up, players are dropped into the middle of a beefy tutorial, covering a wide range of topics such as how to pitch woo in your royal court, hear petitions from your subjects, and demand and subsequently win a duel. As part of the tutorial, you’ll gather resources such as stone and wood, which are used by your subjects and the members of your court to build new structures for your kingdom, like churches and smithies and stables. This not only serves to make the commoners of your kingdom happier, but also allows for a deeper gameplay, as the new structures bring new ways to interact with your virtual world.

EVE Online Incarna Discussed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Tactical Gamer has published a new article about EVE Online's Incarna expansion as well as an audio interview with the lead designer for CCP Games' sci-fi MMO. The interview covers a variety of topics including Incarna and future plans for the game.

The first step in this process was the addition of a full-body avatar creation system that launched several months ago. With this system players had the ability to still select race, gender, and bloodline as they had done before..but to move forward and create a real avatar was something new, something grand. With a designer the likes of which the industry has never seen, fidelity that was near realism, and the ability to "Morph" any part of the avatar by simply holding your mouse on that area and dragging it around, well suffice to say it was a most welcome addition.

However with all things new there is resistance, especially when the developer is still iterating and creating content for the new system. Though it's become widely accepted lately and CCP Games has continued to iterate and expand on the "Carbon Creation" system. Still CCP Games has added to, refined and made this new character creation system into something to be proud of and something that is beyond anything on the market currently. With new clothing styles added in each iteration, the ability to add body modifications such as tattoos, piercings and scars the new Incarna character creation system allows players to truly create a personality all their own. Something that others will see, remember and associate with them.
