The Baconing Screenshots & Character Details Revealed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Hothead Games has released some new character details and screenshots from its upcoming DeathSpank adventure title, The Baconing. In the game players must help DeathSpank confront the AntiSpank, his evil twin. The Baconing features new environments, characters, weapons, and armor.

In The Baconing, the endearingly egotistical DeathSpank faces an assortment of terrifying new enemies. Fortunately for the intrepid hero, he finds help in the Forest of Tomorrow, from an unlikely group of adventuring scientists: The Nuclear Family.

The Nuclear family is a group of rather socially dysfunctional mad geniuses that push the boundaries of science within their laboratory-esque arboretum. Motherly Betty Nuclear stays home and has perfected the science of cooking and cleaning while her husband, Dick Nuclear, spends his time at the "Pleasuretorium" creating robots to help cure the ills of society through full body sensual massage. Meanwhile, their brilliant son Elroy keeps busy with his attempts to clone a two-headed dog to call his own, and his sister Chastity entertains herself by constructing a boyfriend out of Ďspare partsí dug up from a graveyard.

In order to gain access to the Fire of Bacon, DeathSpank must reunite this frenetic family. Of course, itís never as simple as that: each family member has a tendency to explode when agitated, and that tendency grows when in the vicinity of their fellow Nuclears. But if he ever wishes to get one step closer to facing off against the villainous AntiSpank, whose very presence threatens everything he stands for, DeathSpank must find a way.
The Baconing will be released on Mac, Windows PCs, and other platforms this summer. Learn more at the links below.

New Fray Screens And Pre-Order Information Unveiled
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Brain Candy has revealed new gameplay screens from its upcoming futuristic squad-based multiplayer strategy game, Fray. The company also announced today that the simultaneous turn-based title will be available to pre-order later this year. Players who pre-order will be granted early access to play the beta version of the game and will receive a second copy of the game to give to a friend for free.

In 2098 the world and all its resources are controlled by three mega-corporations vying for control of the Earth. All human interaction is confined to the realm of virtual reality modules. One such virtual reality is the combat module Fray. In Fray players will control a squad of four soldiers of unique classes, weapons and abilities. Choose your allegiance to one of the three mega-corporations, win, and be rewarded with allegiance points and special items. Once in Fray, players will assign moves and actions to each of their squad members. At the end of each timed round, or after all players have entered their moves, the action will resolve and play out in cinematic fashion. Keen observation, tactics, and the wisdom of experience will help you predict your opponentís moves and anticipate their attacks and counters.

Fray will be available to pre-order and gain early beta access from Brain Candyís website in Q4 2011. The pre-order early access beta will include the first environment, several playable maps, several game modes, and offers players the unique ability to influence the game design and provide feedback directly to the developers. The beta will offer unlimited play, with weekly updates and special community events. Players who pre-order will then receive the full game immediately upon release in Q1 2012 along with a 2nd copy of the game to give to a friend absolutely free.
