IMG Reviews Amnesia: The Dark Descent
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments

Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Amnesia: The Dark Descent from Frictional Games. The survival horror title drops players into the depths of darkness in the role of an amnesiac trapped in a foreboding castle. While on the run from unnatural horrors they will have to struggle to survive and remain sane.

Here's an excerpt from the review:

The audio features of Amnesia really work. They serve, almost more then the graphics, to paint the image of a dark and dismal mansion, as well as drawing you into Daniel’s insanity. The sounds are all nicely rendered and very realistic. Listening through my stereo, I could close my eyes and easily grasp Daniel’s terror, feeling the creeps from a distant scream or cry, and wondering what was creaking the wooden floors above me. It is so well done that I never managed to convince myself to play late at night with the audio cranked and the lights out.…

Captain's Quarters Coming Soon To EVE Online
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

In a recent dev blog CCP Games has announced plans for a new Captain's Quarters feature soon to be added to the company's sci-fi MMO, EVE Online. The new feature will offer players a 3D representation of their character's avatar in the captain's quarters, bringing the game another step closer to multiplayer avatar interactions.

Captain’s Quarters will offer interactions in the 3D space like slouching on your sofa and clicking an interface on the wall to bring up the planetary interaction (PI) interface, customizing your appearance through a vanity mirror and adjusting your fittings through a holo-model of your ship. There are a couple of very slick, completely new features we’re also bringing in but we’ll talk about those in greater detail in future dev blogs. These first Captain’s Quarters are designed mainly as an entry level capsuleer environment with basic functionality. We are also reworking the new player crash course into an epic arc that works with the Captain’s Quarters while also improving on some existing features and content tools beyond Incarna. To fans of Aura we’ve got some good news. She will make a come-back after losing her voice in the Apocrypha expansion. We can rebuild her.
