Controversial Lugaru Title Removed From App Store
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 5 comments

In a new Wolfire blog the company revealed that the Lugaru title it had alleged was being sold illegally by another group of developers has been removed from Apple's App Store. Wolfire also promised to offer authentic versions of Lugaru HD to those customers who purchased the disputed version.

From the blog:

We're not sure who took it down, or what will happen to the customers who were tricked into buying the fake copy, or the money they paid for it. We still haven't heard anything from Apple.

We don't think that the customers should be punished for buying the fake version -- they probably just assumed that all the games in the App Store are legitimate. We would have assumed the same thing until last week! If you accidentally purchased the fake Lugaru, you can forward your receipt to and we will give you an authentic version of Lugaru HD, as well as a bonus Steam key for your trouble.

Diablo III PvP Previewed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

G4TV has posted a new preview and video footage of Diablo III, the much anticipated next installment of the popular action RPG series from Blizzard Entertainment. The preview focuses on player vs. player combat in the game which takes the form of the Arena system.

Arena is a place where you can battle other players without consequences. Your corpse won't get looted, and you won't drop a level. Developer Jason Bender said they may be supporting leaderboards and other ways to rank players in the Arena, but you won't be heading in there to find epic trinkets. "We don't want this to be the way you get loot," Bender said. In fact, the only real consequence of Arena is the hardcore mode, where if you fall in battle … your character gets erased forever. It's pretty much just for bragging rights, but Bender said they may explore some way to entire players into Hardcore Arena battles. With and their love of decals, I imagine that's where something will appear.
