Crux Prime Coming Soon To LEGO Universe
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

The LEGO Universe team has announced the upcoming release of a new adventure zone for the MMO. Crux Prime will offer the largest and most difficult adventure zone available so far and will introduce Ninjago and the fighting art of Spinjitzu to the game.

LEGO Universe allows players to create their own custom LEGO minifigure and venture forth to combat the Maelstrom, join with friends to complete missions, and collect bricks to build imaginative creations. The Mac version is developed by TransGaming.

When Planet Crux exploded, its millions of fragments created the worlds of LEGO Universe. Crux Prime is the largest fragment of the home of Imagination. Very soon, the Nexus Force will need YOU to go to Crux Prime and save the day!

The Nexus Force has discovered a sinister presence on Crux Prime Ė skeletons mining what appears to be a Maelstrom Ore. The Nexus Force is calling on the bravest and most powerfully equipped Minifigures to help push back this new menace.

Rank 3 weapons and gear will not be powerful enough Ė how will you defeat this foe? An old Monastery can be found on Crux Prime, and its owner, Sensei Wu, can teach willing students a new form of combat Ė Spinjitzu!
Planet Crux is should be available to LEGO Universe players in a few weeks.

Matt Miller Discusses City Of Heroes
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Ten Ton Hammer has posted a new interview with Paragon Studios' Matt Miller, Lead Designer for the comic book themed MMO, City of Heroes. The article covers the challenge of keeping the game alive for seven years, and staying relevant in a genre dominated by fantasy and science fiction games.

Ten Ton Hammer: Matt, youíve been with the City of Heroes team since the gameís inception more than seven years ago. Why do you think it is that weíve seen relatively few super-powered MMOGs in comparison to fantasy or sci-fi MMOGs? Can you point to anything?
Matt Miller: Yeah. Iíd love to point and say that City of Heroes did it best so why would anyone want to compete with that! (laughs) In reality, I canít see that being the sole reason. Itís weird. Even movies like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Dark Knight, they elevated superheroes in the consciousness of America, but it didnít really grab on everywhere. Superhero videogames still have the stigma of not being very good. Just trying to get past all that stuff is a big hurdle and arenít worth taking the risk on doing games like that when fantasy is kind of a proven genre. It also has an international appeal, so you can see Asian companies doing fantasy games, whereas superheroes in Asia are a dramatically different thing than they are in North America and Europe.
