Battlestations: Pacific Scheduled For Release Today
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 12 comments

Feral Interactive has announced that Battlestations: Pacific for the Mac will be released today. Developed by Square Enix London Studios, the sequel to Battlestations: Midway expands upon the original game with two large campaigns, one based on the actual events of the War in the Pacific and the other a ‘what-if?’ scenario based on the premise of Japanese victory. Battlestations: Pacific features 14 missions for each campaign, over 100 different types of war machines to control, impreoved graphics, and enhanced multiplayer modes.

“Battlestations: Pacific is massive and beautifully balanced,” said Feral Interactive’s David Stephen. “The compelling mix of action and strategy inherited from Battlestations Midway remains as good as ever, but the expansion of the game to encompass a ’what-if?’ Japanese campaign adds a whole new dimension to the experience.”

“Battlestations Pacific was a labor of love,” said Square Enix London Studios’ Jonathan Eardley. “We are delighted to see it so well replicated on the Mac.”

Battle your way to victory on land, sea and air in this unique combination of action and strategy. Relive the key battles of the Pacific by leading the US forces from the Battle of Midway to Okinawa or else take command on the Imperial Japanese forces and change the course of World War II by destroying Pearl Harbor and expanding the Empire of the Sun across the ocean to Hawaii. Battlestations Pacific strikes a fine balance between the advanced tactics required to command entire battles and the adrenaline-pumping action of air and naval combat. It is an accessible, well-rounded and substantially improved sequel to Battlestations Midway.

Key features:

EVE Online Character Creator Revealed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

CCP Games recently released a new developer blog post, this time detailing the new Character Creator feature included in the upcoming EVE Online Incursion expansion planned for November. Featuring all new art for each bloodline, race, and gender, the creator is the first step in providing station avatars for players in 2011.

With our upcoming expansion, EVE Online: Incursion, we will be rolling out entirely new avatars for all of our characters and NPCs in EVE Online. The character art is one of the few remaining pieces from the game that has remained as it was when it launched back in 2003. We've updated the ship graphics, the celestials, gates and stations, and now it's time we modernize and update the characters. We've created unique models for each bloodline, race and gender, 24 in total, along with new hairstyles and clothes. We even have shoes and underwear that you can play around with, even if they won't show on your portrait. That doesn't matter, though, because you will know what color underwear your character is wearing, and that is important.

Does that mean you are releasing Incarna now?
No, just characters. This is a major overhaul in terms of art and technology, and paves the way for allowing you to explore the corridors of space stations in subsequent expansion. Yes, just to be clear, Incarna, the expansion where you can walk around as an avatar is not coming out this winter, but the first release of it is planned to come out next summer, in 2011. However, in the same way we introduced new planet graphics in Dominion and then Planetary Interaction one expansion later, we are introducing updated avatar graphics now in Incursion.
