Apple Features Legion Arena: Cult of Mithras 8:33 AM | Anthony Wang | Comment on this story
Apple has posted a feature on Freeverse Software's Legion Arena: Cult of Mithras. This expansion pack continues where the Roman Campaign of Legion Arena leaves off, adding a fun new supernatural element to the historically inspired wargame. Terrifying armies of Fire Demons and Shadow Warriors will challenge your battle-tested legions, pitting the fires of hell against cold, hard steel. The expansion pack also adds 15 new pieces of equipment for your soldiers to use and 12 new skills they can learn, along with new graphical effects that bring the demonic Mithras units to life, with eerie results. In addition, each campaign you complete earns you awards from Mithras himself; they range from a crown that improves your command abilities to a sword that grants better combat skill. In addition, you can play through the original Roman and Celtic campaigns with the Mithras units at your command. Please follow the link below to learn more information.

Dimenxian Reviewed: Adventures In Algebra 8:33 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Macworld's Game Room recently reviewed Dimenxian, Tabula Digita's arcade shooter which teaches algebra and pre-algebra. Integrating math concepts into the gameplay, Dimenxian follows the adventures of Kepler Harris as he fights to contain a deadly "bio-virus". The Game Room gave the game a score of 4 out of 5 mice. From the review: You find yourself in the shoes of Kepler Harris, the commander of a special-ops team. You’ve been sent in to help Darienne Clay, daughter of the great Dr. Robert Clay, contain a “bio-digital virus” that is causing life forms to mutate on a remote island. The virus has transformed life on the island into “bio-mutes,” including a deadly species called Sentinels, which are bent on your destruction. The data you collect and analyze is used by Darienne to figure out where her father’s research went wrong, by comparing it to his early research linking algebraic structures to natural organisms. There are four separate missions included in the mission pack, each one demonstrating different algebraic principles at work. In your first mission, for example, you have to visit four weather stations to record temperature and time data, then input that information by plotting it back at a mainframe (all the while defending yourself from Sentinels). Later missions require you to plot basic linear equations, analyze data and perform other functions kids learn in an Algebra I class. Check out the rest of the review at the link below.
