Halo Demo Finally Released!
11:56 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
The long awaited Halo: Combat Evolved demo has finally been released by MacSoft. Weighing in at 122 MB, the Halo demo is being hosted on our sister site, Macgamefiles.com. The demo includes a single-player campaign level as well as the Blood Gulch multiplayer map.
In the demo version, you can experience both single and multiplayer gameplay, including limited vehicle combat. In the single player campaign level The Silent Cartographer, you assume the role of super-soldier Master Chief as you take on the fierce alien faction known as the Covenant. In the multiplayer map Blood Gulch, up to 16 human opponents can light each other up with devastating weaponry and combat vehicles, including the new Rocket Warthog and the Banshee, either online or via LAN connection. In the demo version, Multiplayer is Mac->Mac only and you cannot save your progress.
The staff at IMG would like to thank MacSoft's Peter Tamte, Al Schilling, and Phil Sulak for listening to our constant pestering about getting the demo out :)
To download the demo, head over to Macgamefiles.com.

We want the community to understand no matter what happens in the future with official commercial games, etc that we will always support anything we put out as long as it's played and popular. The next release of the mod in the coming months will actually have some great new game types.

A few other features will be implemented as well:

Ogledow - August 11th, 1944
German 16th. Pz.Div. and 501st Heavy Tank Battalion have launched an attack onto the Russian Lines around the Village of Ogledow

Destineer's Tamte Talks CIA Work
11:00 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
Gamecloud has posted an interview with Destineer's Peter Tamte. The interview mainly covers Destineer's new relationship with Q-Tel, a private venture group funded by the Central Intelligence Agency.
Here's a clip from the interview:
Gamecloud - First, how did the In-Q-Tel deal come about? To check out the entire interview, follow the link below.
Peter Tamte - A mixture of two things happened simultaneously — In-Q-Tel looked at how our work was being used by the Marine Corps and they saw the capabilities of our technology in some magazine articles. They then expressed to us their interest in working with us, and we became so interested in each other that they took an equity stake in the company. They are an amazingly capable organization, and we’re thrilled to be working with them.
Gamecloud - Is this In-Q-Tel's first entry into the game-simulation market and if so why do they wish to enter into that market?
Peter Tamte - As far as I know, this is the first time In-Q-Tel has invested in a games content company. Destineer is unique in that we use the technologies we create for our commercial games to build highly realistic environments that can be used by government organizations for training. For example, since live-fire exercises are extremely expensive and dangerous, the Marine Corps uses Destineer’s training simulations to augment classroom instruction and live-fire exercises.
