Call of Duty Goes Gold
9:18 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
Aspyr Media today announced that its WWII first-person shooter, Call of Duty, has reach the golden master stage of development and is going into duplication. Aspyr has also announced that the game will begin shipping on May 10th, and will be in stores nationwide on May 14th.
In Call of Duty, you get to fight alongside your brothers-in-arms as history comes alive. In momentous battles from D-Day to Stalingrad, you’ll find yourself in incredibly real terrain, caught in breathtaking life and death combat. You’ll fight as American and British paratroopers and as a young Russian soldier conscripted into the Soviet Army. Whether cut off in a village in Normandy, battling to re-take Red Square, boarding and sinking a German battleship, speeding down German-held roads or rescuing Allied officers from a German stronghold, the dangers are more than any one soldier can overcome. To make it through, you’ll need your buddies around you, and they’ll need you. That’s what war is about, and it’s what Call of Duty is all about.
IMG will be posting a hands-on preview of Call of Duty in the next few days. The game is available for pre-order from the IMG Store for $48.99 and just $44.99 for IMG Pro or MacGames DVD subscribers.

IMG Posts World of Warcraft Journal Part 2
1:51 PM | IMG News | Comment on this story
Today IMG has posted part 2 of Michael Phillips' World of Warcraft character journal. In this installment, the tale of Mourngoth the Warlock comes to a close, as phase 2 of the beta locked all phase 1 characters.
Here's a clip:
The crypts were cold and dark; I had to step carefully in the areas sans torchlight. It took me some time to traverse the twisty halls of the sleeping dead, but eventually I came to a large chamber with ancient runes of power carved into the stone floor. It was the Summoning Circle. I’d never invoked such a powerful creature before, yet for whatever reason, I was calm. For the rest of the story, saunter on down to the link below.

Feral Friday: XIII Demo Close, Making Of Movie
10:07 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
Feral Interactive, as is customary, has posted its Feral Friday update on its web site with news on some of their upcoming games.
First up is news that a demo of XIII, the cell-shaded first person shooter, is in the works and should be released soon:
Here's something to give the conspiracy theorists a bone to chew on. Why is there no XIII demo? Well, despite strenuous secret efforts of The Pentagon (working behind a brilliantly shambolic front organisation known as the British Post Office) to prevent a XIII demo seeing the light of day - the word on this fantastic shooter is that a Mac demo containing two early levels from the game is on the way and should arrive in a matter of weeks, if not days. If for some reason the demo does not appear you'll know that the dark forces of MI5 and Mossad have had their sinister way....and that even Fedex has been infiltrated. In related news, Feral has posted a new game trailer of XIII as well as a making of XIII movie. The making of movie is about 10 minutes long and provides interesting insight into the thinking and approach taken by the talented team that created XIII.
In other news, Feral has also posted a new Worms 3D movie and a German, Italian, and Spanish demo of the game. The English demo was released on Macgamefiles.com a couple of weeks ago.
For more information, be sure to head over to the Feral website.

Valley of Dying Things Golem Key
If you kill the golem in the school library, you do not get the key, despite what you are told. Don't kill the golem. Instead, find a textbook and drop it on the rug with no books on it.
Error In Diplomacy With the Dead (Warning! Plot elements revealed!)
You can learn some things about the vampire lord that Lord Maynard does not want made common knowledge. If you tell Lord Maynard that you will tell everyone his secrets, there is a scripting error which will cause conversations in the town to not work. As a workaround until v1.0.1 comes out, be nice to Lord Maynard. Tell him you will keep his secrets.
Screen Freeze Bug On Mac OS X
In recent versions of Mac OS X, we have received reports that the game's graphics will occasionally freeze for a small number of users. The game is playing in the background and sound effects are still happening, but the graphics are no longer refreshed on the screen.
We have created a workaround for this problem. When the screen freezes, type Shift-R. This should enable you to resume the game normally.
We haven't been able to figure out what piece of software is causing this problem, but we would really like to know. If anyone finds a way to prevent the problem on your machine (such as identifying software that may be conflicting with the OS), please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Everquest Mac Contacts Clarified
8:50 AM | Mike Apps | Comment on this story
A news post on the Mac Everquest Fansite EQMac may bring some hope to those currently having issues with the game. The site report points to a post on the official Everquest forums, showing a recent post by a Sony Online Entertainment employee, clarifying contact information for the Mac version. Here's the news post from EQMac:
Posted today on the SOE forums was the following reply from CSR Stephen R to Wingdo (SunRa). I have reposted it here for all to see, as I believe we might need to review how we report problems about Al'Kabor and EQMacFor more information on this, or for more information on Everquest, follow the links provided below.
I can understand your frustration, having been on the short end of the petition stick myself on a few occasions.
Currently it is no secret that occasionally there are issues with the /petition system. Whether you attribute these errors to technical issues or customer service really doesn't matter. All that matters is that you get the help you need.
With that goal in mind, I've compiled a list of contact methods that I believe you will find useful:
1. TECHNICAL ISSUES (Crashing, loading, graphics issues, sound issues, etc.)
- You are welcome to post on the technical forums (here). Most likely Robert will respond to you. Please bear in mind that we are typically out of the office on weekends.
- Please send an email to email@example.com. Most likely I will respond to you. Again, please bear in mind that we typically out of the office on weekends.
2. INGAME ISSUES REQUIRING A GM (Lost items, player dispute, rollback, etc.)
- You can use the /petition system in game. I understand that there are issues (both perceived and real), but it is a valid option.
- You can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line ATTN: AL-KABOR GM. This will be routed to a GM for review.
- You can send an email to email@example.com with the subject line ATTN: AL-KABOR GM. This will be routed to a GM for review by me personally.
3. BUGS/CONTENT ISSUES (PoP flags, "Sound Bug," etc.)
- Currently, there are two email accounts set up for this: firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com. Both of these are reviewed by management.

Custer Has Worms
8:07 AM | Brad Custer | Comment on this story
IMG's Brad Custer has updtaed Custer's Desktops, the weekly feature that allows you to grab high quality desktop pictures featuring some of today's hottest Mac games. This latest creation features artwork from Feral's upcoming release, Worms 3D. Here's a brief description:
Here in the eastern part of our grand nation we've been getting a lot of rain. Let me emphasize A LOT. ;) And as you know when you experience several days of rain you tend to see our little earth-moving friends floating in abundance across the ground. I dedicate this week's desktop to those little guys. Our preview of Worms 3D also has peaked your desire to see me create this masterpiece. Hopefully, its not too violent for you. ;) So, with the help of Team 17 and Feral Interactive, I was able to create this wallpaper. I simply entitled it, "Roundworms", due to their new dimension and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it. :)The picture is available in many different resolutions, ranging from 640x480 to 1920x1200. If you'd like to try it on for size, be sure to check out the Custer's Desktops section of IMG.

This would mean the game is much further along that previously expected, though is sure to be much appreciated by the many Mac Myst fans.

Ubisoft just recently opened a web site for the game with a few screenshots and some information earlier this month. Check it out, and also stay tuned to IMG, for more information as Myst IV heads towards release.
