| Performance is in the toilet |

I am sorry, performance is a relative thing, and it's in the pooper for SimCity.
I do not accept "souped up" or "need the top of the line" or "upgrade your graphics card".
That's a lot of B.S. to avoid the fact that this game was not designed to scale well, performance-wise. SimCity 4 was designed to play great on the fastest most amazing computers available, which very, very few of us have, and it does not play well on those computers the rest of us have.
One should not need to soup up a currently-shipping Apple computer, or soup up what was a year ago a top-of-the-line computer, or what has been updated as best it can for a four year old computer....whew...to play a game. In a way that doesn't horribly suck, performance-wise.
I have tried SimCity 4 on a PowerBook G4, a brand new iBook G4, and an old crufty Blue & White upgraded with a G4 500MHz and ATI Radeon 7000 32MB, and...there is not a one of them that plays this game well, in terms of performance. Q.E.D.

I'm sure if the reviewer had issues with the performance, she would have said something. Performance is such a relative thing. For some, 30 FPS is not enough. For others, it's fine. SimCity 4 runs on my machine just fine, but maybe it's because I have a supped up machine, a great video card, etc.
In the future, please write user reviews in the review itself. Posting comments here is, well, kinda useless. |

I commented earlier and it disappeared.
I said that it was hard to believe that a review would overlook the poor performance of this game even on high-end systems (as documented in your own forums).
Also it would be a nice feature for reviews to mention the porting company since many now have bad track records and this game makes no mention of who ported it.
Please e-mail me if the only comments you are requesting are along the lines of:
"Awesome review, dude!"
instead of anthing critical,
Lance
