Folks,
I think that's a typo. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but they probably meant 2nd quarter fiscal year 2004, which is Jan-Mar 2004 as they mention in the text.
BTW, anybody that thinks that they could run D3 on their iMac Rev. A, should get some solid ground under their feet. Anandtech tested an early build of D3 on Pentium 4 3 GHz with several graphic cards. With a Radeon 9200 (cousin to the 9000) at 1024x768 and medium settings they got 19(!) fps. That's pronounced NINETEEN.
Things look different though with a Radeon 9800 Pro or GeForce FX 5900.
Here's the link:

Have fun.

before, besides just some fancy graphics i really wasnt quite digging the whole deal but now that there stepping up to bat (to fanboys dismay im sure) and saying we need time, were going to take it to make it right, that says alot right there. i think for the 1st time im getting a bit excited about this "bloater" of a game. |

This was recently sort-of announced... The minimum specs are a 1 GHz Pentium4 and GeForce 1- or Radeon 7000-based video card, plus you'll want some RAM. That's with lots of the graphics options shut off.
The prettier graphics require a GeForce3, GeForce4 Ti (not the 4 MX), GeForce FX or some of the Radeon 9000-series cards.
I know my dual-533 won't run Doom 3, but I now have three more months to do something about that. |

anybody who pays for a dual 3GHz G5 could afford to pay $50 for doom. I don't think Apple would take $50 out of their profit margin. |

Well, if ya believe Jubs, please note that tey SHOULD be shipping 3G G5's by the time D-III comes out. What would be even hotter still... if they bundled D-III w/ 3G duals!
Would that be hot or what??? |

The reason why they announce games according to a fiscal year calender is because of the all mighty dollar. After all, Activision is the publisher of said title so they announce titles based on fiscal year terms for all the investors out there. All publishers do this, it's nothing new. |

Jan-March is my fourth quarter as well. It depends on when your fiscal year is (though it is very strange for a game company to talk about releasing a game like that instead of using a calendar year).
I'm actually happy about this announcement. The further they push it back, the better the game will be and the better the chances will be for my having a computer that can run it at full details (a g5) |

How does the fourth quarter relate to Jan-March? Shouldn't it be the end of the year or did you mean the first quarter? |
