New iMacs
Andreas Weik February 26 - 2:49 AM

We in Germany get the older version as well in the Faster configuration. This is IMHO the dumbest move Apple ever made. As well as the price raise. The slowest system sells now for well over 2,000 DM (around 2,500 DM) which is the bottomline for most home users.

Apples sales in Germany will go down drastically because of this. How can a 450 MHz G3 with a 8 MB VRAM Rage 128 cope with a HP Pavillion 1.1 GHz Athlon, with a nVidia MX 32 MB, CD Writer _and_ CD-ROM which costs about the same?

BTW, the new processors with the full clocked B/S cache are actually _slower_ than the older ones because they only have half the size. Tests have shown that a halfspeed B/S cache with 512 KB helps the CPU more than a fullclocked B/S cache with 256 KB.

Greetings, Andreas.
