Graphics aren't all that important
The Flaming Data Type February 17 - 11:09 PM

It seems like almost everyone only cares about graphics, what about good gameplay? I'm not a Clan Lord player but I've tried it and it doesn't suck. The only problem with the 3D games mentioned above it that they cost $$$, personally I don't care if I see a couple adds.

There are others...
DarkSaint January 12 - 12:21 PM

If anyone is patient enough to wait until May/June, you may see a little treat to be added to this category...When I am ready to announce it, it'll be on IMG.

An arena is immersive?
plugh January 12 - 10:56 AM

I have to wonder whether team vs. team combat in an arena, apparently Arcane Arena's main focus, will be "absorbingly immersive". It sounds like A.A. is no closer to Everquest than Clan Lord is. Not that it matters, if it's as fun as Clan Lord I'll play it for hours too, but still, let's compare apples to apples. I guess time will tell.

I agree with AlanCE
Marcus Aemilius January 12 - 9:05 AM

I've been playing games on my Mac(s) since 1986 and Clanlord, despite my repeated attempts to enjoy it, has never caught my fancy or interest. The graphic are poor and the whole premise/setting just doesn't appeal. I know, I know that there are alot of Clanlord lovers (the whole mac.games.adventure newsgroup should just be renamed mac.games.clanlord) but I'll wait for something else. Way to go Freeverse, I'm waiting to participate.

first != good
AlanCE January 12 - 8:25 AM

But Clanlord isn't very impressive as an absorbing immersive RPG. So what if it is "first"? It definitely isn't the last word in MMORPG and doesn't hold a candle to what is available on the Wintel side of things. GIve us new MMORPGs and give them to us now! Any sort of choice is better than just Clanlord. I don't like to demean Clanlord, I guess I can see how some people might like it, but when MMORPG-starved mac users think of online RPGs, the majority have visions of Ultima Online, EverQuest, Neverwinter Nights, and Shadowbane in their heads, not fugly sprite-based games. I realize the Freeverse offering is not a 3D marvel like the 4 mentioned above, but it still looks great compared to Clanlord and I hope it brings something new and different to the Mac MMORPG scene.

Good Graphics Here
Lee January 11 - 7:50 PM

True, but this is the first Massively Multiplayer game for the Mac with GOOD graphics. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Clanlord
cam January 11 - 6:49 PM

Clanlord has been happily running as a Mac only Massively-Multiplayer RPG for several years already.

Clanlord is updated every 2 weeks and is constantly growing both in world size, things to do and player population. http://www.clanlord.com for more info.
