I don't see any problems with mentioning things that might not be immediately usable on the Mac. When the Homeworld 1 source was released there was a news post about that. Even after the Mac port was started VPC was needed to install HW on the Mac.

Insults...

Are un-called for. It's not too tough to do a little research yourself. The article was written with the goal of informing the reader that a new update to a previously released mod had arrived. Any additional information was left up to the reader to discover.

I'm sorry if the article wasn't perfect--it's only my third.

not ignoring...
Another Jarhead... February 07 - 9:29 PM

If it's going to be on Macologist, or if previous versions have been there, mentioning that detail in the article really isn't that hard.

The problem is that this article doesn't provide ANY information about this mod, that it requires a PC to access the current version, that previous versions were posted elsewhere, or anything like that.

Basic journalism, please.

You are ignoring the fact that Macologist.org will probably have this to download sometime.

We need a Mac version

When an article is posted here, it should pertain to a MACINTOSH download-you VPCers here are ingoring the fact that the BF Deluxe edition (which I have) is for the Mac.

To get it to work in VPC use the shared folder ability and point the installer at the Mac BF folder.

Macologist will probably have a Mac compatible version soon.

ΔBen Edwards February 07 - 3:26 PM

My apologies for not including that. I have been playing around with the mod, but only just noticed that I was using version 4.0, rather than version 5.

Unfortunately, I can't get the mod to open in VPC either. :-/

This isn't one that works with a simple extension change to zip. I wish mod makers would stop using installers.

Stuffit Expander?
ΔShagz February 07 - 2:37 PM

Does Stuffit Expander work? I know it does on some .exe files.

It would be nice if...
Another Jarhead... February 07 - 2:28 PM

...the writer would point out that this requires a PC or VPC to convert the mod, somewhere in the text of the article.

ΔNo One February 07 - 2:00 PM

You will need to get the files out of the .exe using either VPC or a real Windows machine. After that is done it works fine on the Mac.

not only for PC
Ben February 07 - 1:58 PM

I have it working just fine on my Mac. I'm not a big fan of Battlefield, but the mod is pretty neat and runs well.

Star Wars mod only for PC

Play Kryos. It is my friends map that he made on his PC while it restarted for no reason around a dozen times a day.
