I played this game a few times (40 min worth) and came up with following conclusions:
1. Bad glitch with landing craft if your not perpendicular with beach; very hard to get out. Craft will rock back and forth while your trying to get out an an angle.
2. No prone or squat/kneel to shoot from? Whats up with that! Makes everyone easy targets as "we all stand".
3. Very hard to snipe. I aimed at a persons head and torso and seemed not to kill him. Is trajectory a factor with the bullet falling at a larger distance? So I should aim higher?
4. Graphics are decent.
5. Target aiming could be better. Like pulling the weapon up to your body through sites like CoD/UO.
6. Needs more realistic WW2 feel to give it my thumbs up.
7. With RTCW (2000 release) we can actually kneel and sprint!
8. I stood up, and dumped the demo into the trash.
9. RTCW my older favorite besides CoD/UO |

Thanks for the quick response. I was just wondering if GameSpy played a role in the decision to go with GameRanger. I already have the full version with the SW expansion pack and love it! |

The demo is GameRanger for other technical reasons, not GameSpy. It was just easiest to make it work that way. The full game still uses GameSpy with no problems.

Is the use of GameRanger the result in the change of policy with GameSpy? Does the PC demo use GameSpy for game matching? It is too bad that it has to use GameRanger, as I imagine one won't see huge demo servers on there. When you start getting on large servers with 20+ people, that begins to tax one's computer (CPU and network). It would be hard for Mac demo users to properly judge this effect if they can't get on large enough servers. |
